There is a road in Kapalua, lined with enormous Cook Pines, that meanders along the golf course. There isn't much traffic on the road, so it is quiet and a little bit magical with the sun coming through the trees. If you're coming down the road there is also a spectacular ocean view.
Since the beginning of the Coronavirus on Maui, people have been leaving painted rocks at the base of some of the trees along Kapalua Road. They vary in color and with what is painted on them: palm trees, waves, positive thoughts. The number keeps growing and there are now around 12 trees or so that have the painted rocks. The one below is one of the newer ones, and one of my favorites. Go take a walk, take some pictures and let us know which one(s) you loved. |
