Update from Maui ~ your daily dose of "vitamin sea"
Happy 4th of July weekend! We hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy the holiday. It will look differently than the way we celebrated in the past, and unfortunately, the Lahaina fireworks have been cancelled, click here to read more, but we hope everyone is still able to enjoy celebrations in smaller numbers!
(And if the picture below is any indication of the types of gatherings that are going on, then we should all be very safe! Mahalo to David for the beautiful picture of empty Kaanapali Beach.)
If we can't have fireworks, then at least we can watch the fire in the sky.

Unbelievably, July is just around the corner. How did we get here? The beaches are still wonderfully empty and the drowsy effects are summer are upon us making it feel a bit like time has stopped.
Mala has opened and there isn't a much better seat in which to have dinner!
"The sea! the sea! the open sea! The blue, the fresh, the ever free! Without a mark, without a bound, it runneth the earth's wide regions round; it plays with clouds; it mocks the skies; Or like a cradled creature lies ." ~Bryan Procter

It was H.O.T, hot yesterday and it feels like summer is officially here (I am a little envious of the jackets in the picture below). This picture was definitely not taken in late June...
We received exciting news from Governor Ige on Wednesday (click here to read more). If visitors receive a negative test result 72 hours before coming to Hawaii they can bypass the 14-day quarantine. We are excited to safely welcome everyone back!
Enjoy the sounds of the waves as you head into the weekend!

#TurtleTuesday was yesterday, but we really love these guys. It seems that almost anywhere you go right now: Kapalua, Napili, Airport, Kaanapali, Mala, Launiupoko (that's about as far South as we venture), there are honu everywhere! I guess they're taking advantage of the relative people free waters as well.

We hope your week is off to a good start! One thing that we have learned during this time, is to get outside and explore. Whether it is taking the time to slow down and take walks in the morning, or to get out there and find some daring adventures, we have discovered places on this amazing island that we never had time to find before!
There are adventures to discover out there!
"Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all." ~Helen Keller

Did anyone expect the middle of June to come so quickly? When this all started at the end of March, we never thought we'd get through April! What is that saying? The days are long, but the years are short (or months in this case). Maui does still feel a bit like we're in a bubble, and while we are so very, very thankful for our peaceful island right now, we're ready to welcome everyone back!
Sometimes you just need to get out there and have an adventure...
"That's the adventure...I stop worrying about it...that's the beauty."

Happy Monday! We hope everyone had a good weekend. We had some disappointing news last week about the mainland travel quarantine being extended until the end of July, but we are excited to welcome back inter-island ohana tomorrow!
