Olowalu has an amazing and important history in Maui. Among other things, it was the location of a traditional Hawaiian farming community, and a refuge or sacred space for Hawaiians to go to when in conflict.

Today, it is a quiet little community with some private residences, a newer agricultural subdivision and some spectacular oceanfront homes.
